Human sexuality

As an AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator, Jules is adept at teaching on many subjects having to do with human sexuality, including LGBTQIA+ cultural awareness, polyamory/ethical non-monogamy, and BDSM/kink. Jules holds a Master of Education from Widener University’s Center for Human Sexuality Studies. As a professor, Jules has taught courses such as Sexuality and Society and the Psychology of Human Sexuality. Jules routinely provides trainings on creating inclusive and survivor-friendly learning and working environments.

Sexual Violence prevention & Response

A major focus of Jules’s graduate and professional work includes the study of sexual and other forms of intimate partner violence in minoritized communities. Working with both victims/survivors and those who cause sexual harm, Jules’s expertise in both prevention and response is trauma-informed and in keeping with current best practices. Since 2011, Jules has been supporting survivors via restorative practice and liberatory education.

An Intersectional Approach

Jules’s approach to human sexuality is informed by an intersectional understanding of how each of our unique, overlapping identities intersect with one another. Our sexuality is informed by our gender, varying levels and types of ability, racial and ethnic identities, socioeconomic status, and so on. While much of human sexuality education and discourse has neglected these important aspects of self, we are increasingly understanding more and more how these identities and experiences inform and shape one another.
